Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike said his administration will continue to support state security agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for the economic prosperity of citizens.
The governor said Rivers State Neighborhood Watch, Operation Sting and the revitalized C4i security teams have been put in place to help provide security to spur growth and prosperity for all in Rivers State.
The Governor spoke through Secretary of State Government Tammy Danagogo at the 2021 Nigerian Institute of Public Relations conference / annual general meeting in Port Harcourt.
He said, “This administration has embarked on aggressive infrastructure development and very deliberate urban renewal efforts around the capital to attract local and foreign investors to boost our economy.
“We have also opened up local governments through quality road networks, upgrading various social and recreational facilities in various local government areas.”
He congratulated the state chapter of the NIPR for the choice of the theme of the conference: “The security situation in Nigeria: a factor of reputation and national development”, adding that the stakeholders must start to act in a very different strategy, drastic and positive. to remedy Nigeria’s already tarnished reputation.
He urged the NIPR to use its expertise and experience to thrive to galvanize and stimulate people and government at different levels for the resuscitation of citizens’ sense of pride and responsibility for whatever was left of the image and of the nation’s reputation. In his welcoming speech, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications Paulinus Nsirim, who is also the State President of NIPR, praised the cordial relationship between the institute and the government. of the State under the direction of Governor Wike, who is an honorary member of the Institute.
