Good year! On January 1, 2022, Eric Adams took office as the 110th Mayor of New York City.

NYCEDC looks forward to his leadership as we invest in our communities, expand our programs, and improve our long-term infrastructure.

With the start of a new year, we continue to fight for a fair economic recovery.

The NYCEDC brings affordable housing in Midtown Manhattan and the expansion of the ferry system to five boroughs with a new landing stage at Ferry Point Park in the Throgs Neck neighborhood of the Bronx.

Additionally, the NYCEDC celebrating the opening of a new event space, La Placitain East Harlem in La Marqueta and historic Maritime Building Battery in Lower Manhattan.

To preserve the growth and development of New York City, NYCEDC thinks critically about how to resist the threats brought about by climate change and reduce our dependence on greenhouse gases.

In partnership with the Department of Transportation and the Mayor’s Office, NYCEDC has released Delivering Green: A Vision for a Sustainable Freight Network Serving New York City to reimagine how to provide New Yorkers with the goods they need while keeping pollution and traffic congestion away from their homes.

NYCEDC has also partnered with the Mayor’s Office for Climate Resilience and released the Financial District and Seaport Climate Resilience Master Plan.

This plan offers a blueprint for comprehensive flood defense infrastructure by reimagining the Lower Manhattan coastline with a resilient waterfront to withstand the threats brought on by climate change.

As NYCEDC continues to face unprecedented challenges, we look forward to 2022 and the work ahead.
