Kansas Governor Laura Kelly Congratulates Director of Economic Development on Receiving Award – Newstalk KZRG

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly congratulated Rooks County Economic Development Director Roger Hrabe on receiving the Governor’s Tourism Award at the annual Kansas Tourism Liberal Conference on Monday.

A press release from Gov. Laura Kelly’s office states: “Governor Kelly cited Hrabe’s many accomplishments, including his role in the development and construction of tourist information kiosks along Solomon Valley Highway 24, during the award ceremony. Hrabe has also been instrumental in the development of the Rooks County Regional Airport, which stimulates the local economy by allowing visitors to stop and refuel their planes; encourages more overnight stays in the county; welcomes groups of tourists by plane; and makes it easier for doctors to fly and service the local hospital.

The Governor’s Tourism Award was established in 1983 to recognize the Kansans for their contributions to the state’s travel and tourism industries.

The award was presented to Hrabe personally by Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland.

Wichita will be the venue for the 2022 Kansas Tourism Conference.
